There are action verbs which describe actions:

'action verbs' can be used in BE + -ING:

Non-action verbs indicate state, sense, desire, possession, or opinion. The most common non-action verbs are:

FEELINGS | like, dislike, love, hate, fear, envy, care... |
SENSES | hear, see, feel, smell, taste, sound, seem |
BELONGINGS | own, have, belong, possess |
